Presence and IM

Presence Information lets people know whether others are available or not. People can publish their availability - letting people know the best way to reach them (e.g. online, away, busy, in a meeting, on a call, offline) This valuable information can save people time and effort tracking someone down who cannot actually be contacted - and leaving multiple communications (voicemail on landline, mobile and an email)

Instant Messaging enhances this further. IM is the capability to send and receive messages in real time over the internet or corporate network. Enterprise messaging maintains this capability within and beyond the corporate network - whilst at the same time maintaining the levels of security that do not exist in public IM systems.
